My bad! I read the number of steps I did, not the calories I burned! I knew 725 seemed like a crazy huge number!! I actually burned 75 calories yesterday.So far today I have done 35 minutes, which equals 2819 steps, and 282 calories. Not bad.
Julie,So much to say...First, I am so PROUD of you for doing so well on the elliptical. I myself have never been on one of those, but I do the gazelle, and it too sucks. :-) It's tough to work yourself up to getting on it, but didn't you feel so GREAT when you were done?As far as the 'how hard should I push myself' thing...I really think that you should not go too overboard, especially in the beginning. Give yourself time to get adjusting to doing this, and then, you can add a minute or two every other workout, and work yourself up to where you want to be. If your goal is to be doing 30 minutes at a time, don't try to start there. Start with 10, see how you feel. You may be easily able to step up to doing 15, then 20...or it may take time to build up to that, adding one minute every other workout. Don't quit when you know you could go longer....but don't push yourself too hard either--the danger of that is burnout or worse, an injury!I am trying something new...I have been doing a lot of reading, and I am gung ho for something. I have my whole family turned on to this, and I am really really excited. I am not going to tell you guys what it is just yet--I don't want to give a glowing review of something that may fail...but in about 11 days (I am on day three now) I will give you all an update.
